Carpet Snafu

Of course things would have to get worse before they get better, right?! After our carpet guy came out to measure and calculate, give us the price, we signed on the dotted line and gave him our check (almost 2 weeks ago) This is the call I got today (in the middle of the installation job, no less) - he told me he had made an error in his calculations and hadn't ordered enough carpet to do our stairs. So..... our stairs would not be completed today- they would have to reorder and come back maybe next week to finish the stairs (definitely an inconvenience, but one I was quite willing to deal with- even nicely) then came the part I was not willing to deal with- we were going to owe more money for it! Are you kidding??? We were clear about what we wanted carpeted- the stairs had definitely been included- he did the measuring of everything and calculated and told us our final price- and now because of his error he wants us to pay for it- I don't think so!! I did not need the extra phone calls, meeting him at the house and stress that this added to the day! I am getting a bit testy at this point- you don't want to cross me! Thus he is now paying for the additional carpet!

Some Mom Thoughts

After 40 hrs of painting If I never see another paint brush in my life it will be too soon!

I went to the new house this morning to meet the carpet guys. It was morning rush hour time and going through the downtown area, I had to actually hit the brakes and slow down from 60 to 45 for a few minutes- it was rough:)

Our internet gets shut off at our old place today and I'm not sure when we will get it up and going again at the new house so we could be absent from blog/email world for a few days- hope you have an enjoyable Memorial Day week-end.

Lexi

Lexi has started to say and copy a lot more words lately. (Like "stinky" when I am changing her diaper) She says the boys names very cutely. Anytime I ask her a question like, "do you want to go downstairs?" she says, "yeah" but a lot more sweetly than it looks just typed out! Whenever she sees one of the boys sleeping she says "ssssss" (trying to say shhhhh). She also gives us love. She will press her head up against you, or a leg, or whatever is closest to her and we say "aww, love" The boys like it- Lexi just does it on her own now and they always tell me- "Lexi did love to me". And Zach will say, "can you give me more love, Lexi?"

Zachisms 8

Out of the blue he made this statement in the car "When you're a boy- you HAVE to play!" (almost yelling it)

I was telling Josh that he only had 2 more days of school and then no more school for the summer. Zach quickly added, "and no more baths for the summer??" (they rank up there with haircuts)

Another random thought of his "some dogs rip people. I don't want a bad one."

Anytime we are driving on the freeway Zach thinks it is a race against the other cars and is always trying to get me to pass the cars in front of us.

And random thought #3- "I don't want to die- not a little bit, not a lot. I want to be ALIVE!"

He came to sit on Dave's lap the other night when Dave didn't have a shirt on. Looking at Dave's chest he said, "why do you have so many fur?"

In the car, "When we get home can you help me find my daddy tiger, mom? Hey wait a minute, if I can't find my tiger- maybe humpty dumpty took it." To which Josh replied, "there's no humpty dumpty's in this world."

And one of Josh's- yesterday he woke up from a 3 hour nap and was sitting in my lap for a few moments. He yawned and then said, "all that resting makes me need another rest!'" (He said he was joking, but Dave has tried to use that one for real before!)

Pre-Grad Photo Shoot

What a handsome boy (with some cute siblings:)

Graduation!!!!

They did a cute Peter Rabbit little play and songs- Josh was beans
He's going to miss being a JAGUAR!

The class of 2020............. I hadn't thought that far ahead, but that is a cool graduating year!

Some friends-

Our graduated boy! As you can see I still managed to take pictures (I can usually manage that no matter what is going on) I sat in the back row with my carpooling friend- I had my 2 and a camera and she had her 3, her daughter's friend, and a videocam (I have nothing to complain about compared to that!) It was a busy backrow, but turned out fine. Tonight Joshua's dinner of choice is the souper salad restaurant. We went there once and he has been talking about it since- he loved their breadsticks, pizza and raspberry tea!

I Don't Think I'm Going to Make It!

I am sooooo exhausted! The last week and a half has looked like this- get up- get Josh off to school, feed and dress the other 2, do errands to get paint, lights, etc, meet people at the new house- like carpet guys, water guys, gas leak guys, make phone calls to change addresses, set up and stop utilites, get Josh and Zach set in their new schools next year, etc., home to try to pack but all with interruptions of a 3 year old and 15 month old, pick up Josh and Natalie from school, make a snack for the kids, then when Dave gets home- load up the van with stuff, go to the new house, unload the van, paint til 10 or 11pm (sometimes stopping at Walmart or the grocery on the way home), come home to get things ready for school the next day, sometimes throw in some laundry or take a shower- go to bed very late and get up to do it again. Tonight while painting I had to lay down on the floor for a bit cause I was feeling shaky and tears came on the drive home- I'm just so tired!!! The hard part being that there is still so much to do! Tomorrow is Josh's graduation. I will need to get him ready for that and then try to entertain and watch the other 2 (Dave has a meeting and won't make it to graduation) before and during graduation AND take pictures of course- not sure how that is going to work out- then it will be more packing and phone calls, more painting and clearing the floors for the carpet layers to come Friday morning. Followed by Fri, Sat., Sun and Mon of more packing, moving and cleaning the rental. In my mind I know it will all get done but right now my body and emotions say- HOW???? I know after a nights rest (although not long enough) it will not seem quite as bad, but I just needed to tell someone (or a few someones). Thanks for listening and your prayers would be appreciated!

Weekend Recap

Friday night pizza night @ the new house

Josh's classmate's party at Chuck E. Cheese

Dave's perfect evening- looking through lures and dreaming of fishing. He also had some complaints about our weather- we got up to 84 degrees and he was ready to hibernate inside!

Conversation with Josh

I ended up with just Josh in the car with me on the way home from the new house. It is about a 20 min drive and usually Josh is pretty quite on car rides- just takes it all in. (so unlike his brother!) But today- maybe because he didn't have to compete with Zach or he was just feeling more talkative- he talked for most of the drive. It began with talk of mountain lions and asking if they lived with the wooly mammoths and if they were friends. They he started talking about tigers and said "tigers pray before they eat. Mom, do mountain lions pray before they eat?" I don't know Josh. (trying so hard not to laugh out loud) then he said, "I think they just search for their food and just eat and don't pray" then he was asking if wooly mammoths could swim. He thought they could just go in the shallow part, but not the deep part cause they would sink- like Zach- he just swims in the shallow part. It was about 15 minutes of talk about animals and then he saw a train and asked if trains had beds on them. I told him some of them do and then he wondered if they also have toothbrushes. Cute conversation with Josh- those are the times you wish you had a tape recorder or videocam.

Good News

Our landlord called today and said he has rented out our place starting the end of May. Very good news as we had planned on moving out next weekend anyways, but because of our contract we were going to have to pay another months rent here. So yeah- money saved! Good news-only a week from tuesday all the moving of stuff and cleaning of the rental house will be done!! Bad news- only a week from tuedsay to get all the painting, packing, moving and cleaning done! Yikes!! Josh only has 4 more days of school- he has a graduation ceremony on Thursday morning:) Our little boy will be moving on to first grade- how does that happen???

Josh's School Program

Josh was very animated with the singing and hand motions- so cute! It was a cute program- songs about one big happy family, the greatest mom and dad in the world, climbing the family tree and spend some time with your kids. Also, Josh has lost his second tooth however, once again, we noticed after the fact and can't find the tooth- second note to the tooth fairy!

Some House Progress

Before and after pulling out some bushes out front- thanks James!!

the backyard- no work there yet

the boys room- now burnt orange with army green trim (dinosaur decals to come). I now have the 3 bedrooms and kitchen painted, still need to paint the office and the little room under the stairs that will be a play room plus some trim in the living room. The new carpet goes in on the 23rd and then we actually move all our stuff that weekend- memorial day weekend. Got some done~ got lots more to do!

Headed for Trouble...

Zach doesn't yet know when it is best to keep his mouth shut!

At the park the other day there was a big kid- maybe about 13 sitting on a rock and I hear Zach saying, "Hey, you big bully!"

Then at Costco there was a boy about 8 years old who was giving the boys the "peace" sign so Dave told the boys it was the peace sign to which Zach, misunderstanding, yells to the kid, "you want a piece of me?!" Oh, boy!

Field Day @ Josh's School

Scooter races- the girl in the orange shirt is our carpool friend.

Stacking relay race

The spectators

Zach and Josh isms

Whenever we pull into the bank parking lot Zach says, "are we at the piggy bank?" He also wants to go in with me cause sometimes they have cookies out.

I was at the kitchen table with Zach while Josh was in the next room. Zach says, "Can you keep it down, we're trying to eat!" Josh replies, "no, I'm playing" Zach asks me "can Josh play with the pillows cause he's making a lot of racket" then as the noise continues, "Josh can you do something else?" Funny because Zach is typically our noisy one.

A little while back Zach finally made the full time switch from pull-ups to underwear. (yeah!) But now he constantly goes around pulling his pants up- he feels like they are going to fall down. They aren't, but he no longer has the extra padding of diaper like stuff to fill out the backside!

The other day Josh said, "I want to be a cowboy when I grow up." (Colorado is rubbing off on him!) And Zach says, "I want to be a pterodactyl..... a bad pterodactyl." (I don't know what gets in his mind or how!)

The other night Josh says, "I think God made me in a bad mood tonight" I informed him that God doesn't make us that way, but we have a choice in how we act and react. A few minutes later he whispers, "I think God really did that to me."
