We started looking at homes this weekend. This is actually one that our realtor emailed over to us after we had gone out with her for the day. It looked so good on paper that we had to drive out to see for ourselves. And a bit of a drive it is- about 35 miles north east of the springs in a LITTLE town called Calhan. See if this doesn't grab your attention too- 5600 square foot house (2800 finished on top level- 2800 unfinished basement level) 1.43 acres for $219,000. As long is there are no typos we are stoked about the possibilities. We peeked in the windows and hope to go back this next weekend to actually go inside. We shall see.

What a great house! What is this small town like? I looked it up on city-data.com, but it is hard to tell. What kind of commute would it be for your hubby?

Heather, just a thought, but you may want to be aware that on the Eastern plains it is ALWAYS windy. I had a friend who lived in Falcon for about a year and that was her one complaint (that and the fact that it took a long time to get errands done). Otherwise the wide open spaces looks very appealing! Steve and I were just talking today how it would be nice to have land for the kids to roam.
Yes, we have heard about the wind and the distance from most things is definitley something to consider too. We have an appointment to go look at the inside on Wed. Maybe that will tell us more also. It would be about a 40 min. drive for Dave which he is very up for doing in order to have this kind of home and life. We don't know too much about the town yet except it only has maybe 1000 people, there is one school for all 12 grades, there aren't too many business in town- just like a couple little restaurants, an antique store and little general store- we would have to go into falcon (suburb of the springs) for any real grocery or clothes shopping. It would be about 20 minutes away. Such a different life which in some ways I am totally ready for and others I am not so sure!
